Locksmith Services in Geelong

  • New locks supplied and fitted
  • Skilled workmanship and quality products installed to manufacturers specifications. Correctly fitted locks will work as intended, will reduce future repair/service and maximise strength and durability.

  • Locks re-keyed – new keys supplied
  • Existing locks can be re-keyed (the cylinder of the lock is repinned/recoded) so that old keys no longer operate the lock. Customers request this service when they have lost their keys, had their keys stolen or if they are moving into a new property. This ensures that anyone with a copy of the old key will be unable to gain access.

Generally locks can also be re-keyed alike to the same key. One key convenience means no fussing around looking for the right key, a less cluttered key ring and cost savings on extra key copies.

  • Lock servicing
  • Locks are mechanical with a number of small metal parts and without regular servicing strength and durability can significantly decrease. Old locks may not function correctly, may not securely lock or have the potential to cease up. Preventative servicing will extend the durability of a lock and the cost will be less than an emergency repairs or replacement.

  • Lock repairs
  • Locks can be repaired but in some cases a lock replacement may be required. If a repair compromises the function or strength of the lock it is recommended that the lock be replaced. All lock repairs will not guarantee that the same fault does not happen again.

  • Strike adjustments
  • A strike adjustment may be required when the lock’s latch doesn’t locate properly into the door frame. The door will either not close / lock properly or will be unable to open. Over time a building’s foundations can move and the latch and strike can become misaligned. Also temperature variations can expand/shrink wood and metal causing similar misalignment.

  • Restricted / master key systems
  • A restricted key system allows for key control, preventing unauthorised key duplication. The system is registered with the client’s locksmith. Details of the system are kept confidential and secure by the locksmith at all times. This records include number of keys issued, lock pinning and the client’s signature authority. Any additional keys cannot be issued without authorised signatures. Other locksmiths or general key cutters cannot duplicate keys. Staff keys are accounted for and cannot be copied. Restricted key systems can have additional security features. For example lock bumping, lock picking, drilling etc.

A master key system is similar to a restricted key system as it is generally a restricted profile. Master keying enables access control of areas within a building. A basic example: All employee’s can open the front door and each key can open one individual office but not any others. While a master key or Grandmaster key can operate all locks.
